Your video archive isn't a library. It's a search bar you haven't built yet.

Anika edits Field Notes — the position pieces, manifestos, and category-defining writing that frame how Deepgrip thinks about video.

We started Deepgrip after sitting in too many production rooms watching the same scene play out: a producer, a Word doc, and a frantic hunt for a quote nobody could remember exactly.

Every team we sat with had the same setup. Years of footage on a NAS. A spreadsheet nobody trusts. An assistant editor who, as part of the job, has memorised that the right interview is "somewhere in March, possibly the navy blazer." The archive exists. It just is not searchable.

The most expensive thing in your archive isn't the storage cost. It is the cuts you never made because nobody could find the moment in time. The interview that should have shipped a year ago. The reaction shot that would have been the moment of the post. They are in there. Nobody can get to them.

A library waits to be browsed. A database waits to be queried. Most archives are neither.

Once the cost of asking a question collapses to seconds, the work changes shape. Producers stop trying to remember and start trying to ask. They cross-reference the year. They pull every mention of a thread across a season. They build a pre-show packet by querying instead of scrubbing. The archive stops being a graveyard and starts being a research surface.

Stop treating your archive like a library. It is not waiting to be browsed. It is waiting to be queried.
